(AllHipHop News) Two decades ago, Lauryn Hill released one of the most celebrated albums in history. The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is certified 8-times platinum, and it was the first Hip Hop album to win the Grammy for Album Of The Year.
Ms. Hill is celebrating the 20-year anniversary of her 1998 magnum opus by going on a world tour. The former Fugees member will use a portion of the ticket sales to raise money and awareness for charities through the MLH Foundation.
“This album chronicled an intimate piece of my young existence. It was the summation of most, if not all, of my most hopeful and positive emotions experienced to that date,” says Lauryn in a statement. “I Loved and believed deeply in my community’s ability to both Love and heal itself provided it received the right amount of support and encouragement.”
She continues, “Our world today, both complex and changing, is in need of the balance between moral fortitude and cathartic expression. I hope the Love and energy that permeated this work can continue to inspire change with Love and optimism at the helm.”
Special guest performances are expected to take part in select dates of “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hil 20th Anniversary Tour.” Tickets and VIP experiences go on sale to the general public on April 20 at 10 am local time at LiveNation.com.
Additionally, Hill will play New York City’s Apollo Theater exclusively for Citi cardmembers on May 1st. The tickets will be $20 in honor of the 20th anniversary of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and all ticket proceeds will go directly to the MLH Foundation.
