Lauryn Hill will be honored at ASCAP’s 28th Annual Rhythm & Soul Music Awards, according to Billboard. The “Doo Wop (That Thing)” singer will be presented with the Golden Note Award at the invite-only ceremony on June 25th.
ASCAP President Paul Williams praised Hill for her “ability to push boundaries and capture the humanity that surrounds us.”
“Ms. Hill’s talent as a songwriter is undeniable and reflects her singular take on the world we live in,”he said in a statement.
Not only will Hill perform at the ceremony, which will be at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in L.A, but Jazmine Sullivan will also hit the stage as well. Other artists who have been honored with this award include Stevie Wonder, Dr. Dre, Alicia Keys and Pharrell Williams.
