(AllHipHop News) Kimberly “Lil Kim” Jones will be recognized at the 2019 BET Hip Hop Awards with a special honor. The network is presenting Lil Kim with the I Am Hip Hop Award at this year’s ceremony.
Queen Bee is the creator of the classic 1996 album Hard Core. Over her three-decade career, the Grammy winner has collaborated with The Notorious B.I.G., Puff Daddy, Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, Missy Elliott, 50 Cent, Christina Aguilera, and other music legends.
Lil Kim joins Grandmaster Flash, KRS-One, Russell Simmons, Ice Cube, Salt-N-Pepa, LL Cool J, Rakim, MC Lyte, Doug E. Fresh, Scarface, Snoop Dogg, Luther Campbell, and Lil Wayne as an I Am Hip Hop Award recipient.
“I am graciously humbled by this honor. Thank you @bet. Beehive this one is for you #blessed,” wrote Kim on Instagram. The Brooklyn-bred rapper is also promoting the new single “Found You” featuring O.T. Genasis and City Girls on her social media accounts.

Additionally, some of the performers for the Hip Hop Awards show have been announced. Lil Jon, Megan Thee Stallion, Rick Ross, DaBaby, Chance The Rapper, T-Pain, Rapsody, YBN Cordae, Anderson .Paak., and Saweetie are set to hit the Cobb Energy Center stage in Atlanta.
Ultimate Rap League founder Troy “Smack White” Mitchell will present a live rap battle featuring DNA, Geechi Gotti, T-Top, and Shotgun Suge. Teyana Taylor and Daniel Kaluuya have been named as presenters. Comedian Lil Duval will serve as the host for the evening.
The 2019 BET Hip Hop Awards is scheduled to premiere on October 8 at 8 pm ET/PT. “Money” rapper Cardi B leads the pack with the most nominations (10). She is followed by DJ Khaled, Travis Scott, and J. Cole with 8 nods each.
