(AllHipHop News) Lil Nas X is looking to build on his success next year following a spectacular 2019.
The 20-year-old star broke Billboard records over the summer when his tune “Old Town Road” spent a mammoth 19 weeks atop the Hot 100 chart – more than any other song since the rundown began.
After scooping the Favorite Song – Rap/ Hip-Hop prize for his smash hit tune with Billy Ray Cyrus at the American Music Awards (AMAs) on Sunday night, Nas teased fans that “amazing surprises” are coming – as he confessed he can’t believe how far he’s come.
“I am just so happy that they even considered my project that I was just working on a few months ago,” the star, real name Montero Lamar Hill, said of his six Grammy nominations for his debut EP, 7.
It’s also been a big year for the musician personally after he came out as gay to his family, and fans via the tune “C7osure.”
When asked about his experience as a black LGBTQ artist, he replied: “It’s been pretty good so far, luckily.
“I can’t say everything is cool because I’m in my place right now. If I was an upcoming artist who didn’t have what I have, I don’t know if it would be the same love, but I’m happy.”
