Rappers Lil’ Wayne and Ja Rule were arrested last night (July 23) in New York in two separate incidents involving guns.
Queens, NY rapper Ja Rule was stopped around 10:30 pm in a luxury vehicle in Manhattan for speeding on West End Avenue.
When police searched the vehicle, they found a .40 caliber hand gun.
In a separate instance an hour later, The New York Daily News reports that New Orleans rapper Lil’ Wayne was searched after police witnessed him and another man allegedly smoking marijuana by a tour bus near 61st Street and Columbus Avenue around 11:30 p.m.
The arrest occurred shortly after Lil’ Wayne’s highly anticipated performance at the Beacon Theater.
Officers recovered a .40 caliber and both men were charged with criminal possession of a weapon and marijuana.
Representatives for Ja Rule or Lil’ Wayne could not be reached as of press time.
