(AllHipHop News) “Truth Hurts” was released on September 19, 2017. Nearly two years later, Lizzo’s breakout hit is the #1 song in the country. After rising two spots on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 chart, “Truth Hurts” became the first Number One song for the Detroit-bred singer/rapper.
Lizzo joins Lauryn Hill (1), Lil Kim (1), Shawnna (1), Iggy Azalea (1), and Cardi B (3) as the only female rappers to top the Hot 100. Just Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing),” Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow,” and Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts” reached #1 without another act on the record.
