LL Cool J will star in "S.W.A.T.,"
a remake of the 1970’s television series. The remake, which is being released
by Columbia Pictures, also stars Colin Farrell, Jeremy Renner, Michelle Rodriguez
and Samuel L. Jackson. Jackson was quoted recently as saying he would refuse
movies that starred rappers.
"S.W.A.T." centers around an arrested
crime lord, who is transported by an LAPD Special Weapons and Tactics Team,
which is led by Samuel L. Jackson’s character out of the city and into federal
custody. The movie takes a twist when the crime lord offers $100 million dollars
to anyone that can free him.
In related news, LL Cool J recently penned a
"rap and read" children’s book, "And the Winner Is …"
The 32 page book/cd set seeks to give children age 4 to 10 years old lessons
about humility and good sportsmanship.
“I just think there’s room for something
that’s positive in hip hop," Cool J told CBS News. "Someone had
to have the courage and say, ‘I care about the kids.’”
