LL Cool J’s “Luv You Better,” is the 17 year veteran’s first number one hit since he topped the charts in 1987 with his classic, “I Need Love.” The single is also the biggest selling single of the rappers career.
“The overwhelming success of Luv You Better is a testament to just how topical and relevant of an artist LL Cool J is,” Def Jam President Kevin Liles told AllHipHop.com.
“Luv You Better” has been on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop singles chart for 13 weeks and hit the number one position this week. LL’s tenth album, 10, is scheduled to debut on Billboard’s Top 200 Album chart next week behind Faith Hill at number 2. The album moved over 154,000 units the first week in stores, according to Soundscan.
“The hip-hop culture and LL Cool J are synonymous with one another,” Liles continued. “His longevity and consistency is unmatched in this game!”
