S.W.A.T., the movie
that stars rapper LL Cool J, was the hands down winner this weekend for box
office sales, raking in $37 million over the weekend.
The flick, which
is adapted from the hit 1970’s television show, also stars Samuel L. Jackson
and Colin Farrell as special weapons and tactic leaders in Los Angeles, assigned
to prevent the escape of a drug kingpin, who has offered a $100 million dollar
reward to anyone that can help him escape custody.
The second place
winner was another 1970’s remake, "Freaky Friday." That movie took
in $22.3 million over the weekend, bringing its total earnings to just over
$33 million since opening last Wednesday.
LL is presently
shooting "Slow Burn" in Montreal with Taye Diggs and Ray Liotta.
