(AllHipHop News) “The Sweetest Thing” is one of Ms. Lauryn Hill’s most famous solo tracks. The Hip Hop legend’s 1997 single appeared on Love Jones: The Music album.
According to reports, a new Lauryn Hill song is part of another movie soundtrack. The music project associated with the forthcoming film Queen & Slim will also host records by Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion, Vince Staples, EarthGang, and other artists.
“[Queen & Slim] is coming out on Thanksgiving. I’m excited about that,” Lil Baby told AllHipHop two weeks ago. “I got one of the songs that’s going to be in the movie.”
The Melina Matsoukas-directed motion picture is scheduled to hit theaters on November 27. Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out) plays Slim, and Jodie Turner-Smith (True Blood) plays Queen.
Additionally, the cast features Bokeem Woodbine, Chloë Sevigny, Flea, Indya Moore, and Sturgill Simpson. Emmy winner Lena Waithe (Master of None, The Chi) is credited as a screenwriter.
The Queen & Slim soundtrack is set to arrive on November 15 via Motown Records. New tunes will be listed alongside music by older songs from Roy Ayers, Bilal, and more. A music video for Tiana Major9 and EarthGang’s “Collide” was published on October 10.
“I wanted the soundtrack for Queen & Slim to showcase the historical evolution of Black music, from its roots in blues and soul, to modern bounce, Hip Hop, and R&B – much like we used to see in film soundtracks in the 90s,” said Matsouka.
