Logic Explains Changing His Album Title From ‘AfricAryan’ To ‘Everybody’ (VIDEO)

THE MARYLAND RAPPER BREAKS DOWN CHANGING THE NAME OF HIS LP

(AllHipHop News) Maryland rapper Logic caught some criticism – notably from Atlanta’s OG Maco – for the supposed AfricAryan title for his third studio album.

Logic ultimately decided to change the name of the LP to Everybody.

The Def Jam artist spoke to Hard Knock TV about switching the project’s title.

“Yeezy [Kanye West] changed his album title like 16,000 times,” stated Logic. “For me, it’s like I really stand behind what that title means. That’s why there’s a song ‘AfricAryan.’ It’s crazy because the whole album leads up to that one song which is just to talk about how I feel like I’m pulled in one or other direction.”

He continued, “Like black folk who don’t realize I’m mixed will treat me like some racist person. Or when white people find out I’m black, they treat me with racism. I just feel like I don’t belong and I don’t fit in anywhere.”

The “Sucker for Pain” performer went on to say as the creative process for the album played out he realized the content became less about him and more about “everybody else.”

“It became about other people’s struggles. I was simply only discussing race on this album for the first time because I had been so scared to before. I realized it’s the things were most scared to do that are actually going to help others the most,” Logic explained.

Everybody is scheduled for release on May 5.
