(AllHipHop News) Logic has made it a practice to highlight social issues during award shows. Following his much talked about set at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards, the Maryland rapper once again performed his “1-800-273-8255” single at the 2018 Grammy Awards.
He ended the performance with Alessia Cara and Khalid by giving a spoken-word-esque speech. Part of the commentary included the Everybody album creator addressing Donald Trump allegedly calling African nations and Haiti “sh-thole countries.”
“Everybody is beautiful and the world is equal and we need to fight towards that,” Logic explained backstage at the Grammys. “I’m not a politician but if that man can call those beautiful places ‘sh-tholes,’ I can stand up and say that they’re not. And that they’re amazing.”
This was the second time this weekend that a high-profile Hip Hop artist spoke out against Trump’s statements about mostly black countries. During an appearance on The Van Jones Show, rap legend Jay-Z called the president’s words “disappointing” and “hurtful” which led to a response from Trump on Twitter.
