M.O.P will perform
at a special benefit in New York hosted by Terror Squad member Remy Martin, designed
at raising funds to aid the relief effort for victims of the Dec. 26 tsunami,
which killed hundreds of thousands of people.
"M.O.P is proud to be a part of this very special event," said Laze
Elliot, longtime manager of the legendary hip-hop group. "It’s the least
we can do to show love and support for the victims of this great tragedy."
The event starts at 11:00 PM on Wednesday January 12, 2005 at
Joe’s Pub, 425 Lafayette Street in New York City. Tickets are $15.
Organizers said 100 % of the ticket sales will be donated to
the to the American Red Cross International Response Fund, to provide mediation,
food, clothing, shelter and more to the millions of displaced survivors of the
cataclysmic event, which happened in Southern Asia and Eastern Africa.
Other guests on the bill include DJ J. Period, PetelShot, Nervous
System, SUM (Vinyl Junkies), Sparlha Swa, Shannone Holt, ANATH, Ralph McDaniels
(Video Music Box), DJ Eleven, DJ Monie (UBIQITA) and KnockOutKingz (Spitkicker).
Raffle tickets for gift certificates from Joe’s Pub, Knicks
vs. Bulls tickets, sports memorabilia, dinner for two at Tri Collore’ and more
will also be sold at the event.
The “Relief and Recovery!” benefit for the tsunami
victims is being organized by The Bloom Effect, CJR Entertainment and Wildseed
Communications. Sponsors of the event include AllHipHop.com, Wildseed Communications,
Warner Bros., TRACE Magazine, Room Service, Spitkicker, Kevin Powell Co., Lola
and E Man, Hudson Punch, Verve Music Group and Palm Pictures.
