Police have arrested a Brooklyn man in connection with a gunfight in Manhattan last week that injured rapper Freaky Zeeky and killed an associate, Erick Mangrum. Chauncey Dillon, 29, will be charged with second-degree murder. It is not clear if police believe that Dillon fired the shot that wounded Zeeky and killed Mangrum. The incident unfolded Friday morning (April 25), as Zeeky and Mangrum were in a car accident. The Jeep Cherokee they were driving in hit a silver sedan carrying four men and a woman. The parties allegedly went around the corner to settle the matter, but couldn’t agree on how much cash should be paid for damages sustained to the sedan. The situation escalated into a shootout, leaving Zeeky with wounds to the chest and the abdomen and Mangrum dead.
Police found a 9MM handgun in a garbage can and several 40-caliber shell casings at the scene. Earlier this week, authorities said that Zeeky would also be charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
Police said that investigation was continuing.
