The Hip-Hop Summit Action Network will host a
Dallas hip-hop summit, on October 11, 2002. The event, which is taking place
at the Adolphus Hotel at 1321 Commerce Street in downtown Dallas, will address
the serious issues surrounding the hip-hop community and will educate those
who attend on how to promote diversity within the music industry.
Hosted by Dallas hip-hop legend, The D.O.C. and
Dallas native Minister Ben Muhammad, who is also President of HHSAN, the event
will also include influential Hispanic civic leaders.
"The Dallas hip-hop summit is going to be
hot," Minister Ben told AllHipHop.com. "There will be a strong focus
on motivating grassroots youth leadership."
Minister Ben was referring to a forum which will
encourage youth to participate in educational programs such as Rap The Vote,
Youth Council, Urban Leaguer Def Jam Reader and The Hip Hop Industry Wealth
Management Program and Conflict Resolution.
"President Bush is waging war on Iraq,"
Minister Ben continued. "The hip-hop generation is waging war on ignorance
and poverty."
