Missy Elliottt postponed
numerous appearances after undergoing surgery for a torn left Achilles tendon.
The accident happened while Elliott was rehearsing in Los Angeles
for the TV Guide Emmy party that was scheduled to be held five days later.
Elliott recently underwent extensive surgery at a private hospital
on Manhattan’s East Side to repair the damage.
"Tearing your Achilles is no joke," Elliott said in
a statement. “I can’t even tell you how much pain I’m in, but I’m happy
the surgery went well and I want to thank everyone for their concern."
The 2 ½ hour procedure was completed successfully and
Elliott is now at home recuperating and gearing up for the long recovery process
which doctors said would take from 6 – 12 months.
Although she is
just at the beginning of the recovery process, Elliott intends to honor her
commitment to perform at the Miller Genuine Draft "Flavor to Savor"
grand finale at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York on October 8.
