After causing mosh pits at countless hip-hop shows, Brooklyn’s own MOP is set to release a heavy metall album on May 25 through indie label, Fastlife/Blaze Records.
The 12-cut self-titled album is collaboration with a Brooklyn rock act called Shiner Massive who will cover some of the group’s greatest songs and new material. These songs include "Conquerors" [Iron Man], "Put It In The Air," "Ground Zero," G-Boy Stance" [Bulls on Parade], "Stand Up," "Robbin’ Hoodz" [Ante Up], "Nine & Two Clips," "It’s That Simple," "Fire," "Watch Out," "All of the Above," and "F**ck M.O.P."
“There is nothing like an M.O.P. concert.” member Billy Danze said of his and Lil Fame’s show. “We want ni**as to bang they fu**ing head. Everybody knows that. Even motherf***as that don’t like M.O.P. know what to expect from M.O.P. and we ain’t going to change that.”
The album will also feature a bonus CD of hip hop songs from another project dubbed “Marxmen Cinema,” slated to be released later this summer.
Additionally, the group won’t release the album under their acronym, but rather their full name of the Mash Out Posse.
This isn’t MOP’s first foray into rap-n-roll. In 1998, the group released Handle Ur Bizness when the Brownsville sluggers were still signed to Relativity Records. With Jay-Z, they also recorded “4 Alarm Blaze,” a song that sampled Foreigner’s Rocky II classic, “Eye of the Tiger.”
Ghetto Warfare, their Roc-A-Fella debut, is still slated to drop this summer.
