Leading UK rapper/singer Ms. Dynamite has been arrested for an alleged assault that took place at a London restaurant, according to sources.
The incident, which allegedly took place last month, occurred in central London in the Soho district, Reuters reports.
"A 23-year-old woman voluntarily attended a central London police station on October 1 following an allegation of assault on September 17 at premises in Wardour Street," said a Metropolitan Police spokesperson to the newswire.
The spokesperson said that the rapper, real name Niomi McLean-Daley, will reappear in court sometime in November.
Ms. Dynamite’s debut album A Little Deeper faltered sales-wise due to her inability to promote it during her pregnancy, but the rapper managed to get a number of accolades. She won the Mercury Music Prize in 2002, two Brit Awards and three MOBOs (Music of Black Origin), among other honors.
