(AllHipHop News) Before the #MeToo movement exposed alleged sexual misconduct by Hollywood elites like Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey, rising filmmaker Nate Parker saw his career sidelined in 2016 over a 17-year-old rape case. Parker was acquitted at trial, but that did not prevent calls for boycotts against his Nat Turner biopic The Birth of a Nation.
THR reports Parker will once again go behind the camera. The 38-year-old University of Oklahoma graduate is said to be writing and directing the new web series Baselines.
The digital project supposedly follows a Los Angeles family trying to protect their basketball-loving son from the dangers of inner-city life. Baselines will consist of 10 episodes that run six to eight minutes.
Besides creating The Birth of a Nation, Parker starred in films such as Pride, The Great Debaters, Red Tails, and Beyond the Lights. He has remained out of the public spotlight since 2016.
