Nelly Wants Father’s Day Moved

NELLY CALLS FOR CHANGE

(AllHipHop News) Nelly is campaigning for the Father’s Day holiday in the U.S. to be moved, complaining it’s too close in date to Mother’s Day.

The 42-year-old singer will marked the occasion on Sunday (June 18) with his children Chanel, 23, and Cornell, 18, and niece and nephew, Sydney, 20, and Shawn, 26, following their mother’s death in 2005.

And while he’s looking forward to spending time with the most important people in his life, he told the New York Post’s gossip column Page Six that he believes Father’s Day should be celebrated at another point in the year.

“We don’t get the hoo-rah Mother’s Day gets, you know?” he ranted. “They were advertising Mother’s Day four months ago … Then they slam ours in a couple weeks after Mother’s Day, like we’re in the shadows.”

“I think they should move Father’s Day, I think we should be way away from Mother’s Day.”

In America, Mother’s Day is on the second Sunday in May, while Father’s Day is on the third Sunday in June.

Despite his reservations about the celebration of fatherhood, the “Hot In Herre” star admits that being a parent is one of the parts of his life he loves the most.

“My kids are awesome and just having them there is the blessing for me,” he smiled. “Just being with your kids, I think that’s a great gift for fathers.”
