MTV is about to relaunch one of Hip-Hop’s favorite series, “MTV Cribs.”
No one will ever forget Redman’s classic episode where he took the Viacom cameras on a trip through his crib in Newark. While the Funk Doctor Spock’s episode was ratchet, there were some Hip-Hop homes that took your breath away.
The cribs mirrored the rap music videos that they played on the channel, back when the network almost exclusively played music videos. Now that so many people are at home watching TV due to the coronavirus, the hope is to re-engage the interest of music culture loves like they did almost twenty years ago.
“As we spend more time at home this year, our fascination with where and how others live is growing,” said Craig Orr, vice president of original content and development for youth and entertainment at ViacomCBS Networks International “’MTV Cribs’ continues to connect our worldwide audiences with their favorite stars as they welcome us into their homes for an exclusive tour. This is pure property p### escapism at its most fabulous.”
The new reboot will hit the US next year, 2021. However, there will be an international version set to debut on select MTV stations on Oct. 26th at 8 pm BST.
The original show first dropped in 2000 and stayed on for a whopping for 13 seasons.
By 2005, they had visited the homes of celebrities like Destiny’s Child, Snoop Dogg, and Mariah Carey. Which stars would you like to see when they start running here in The States?
