The Notorious B.I.G. Gets His Own Basketball Court In Brooklyn

BROOKLYN BASKETBALL COURT RENAMED IN NOTORIOUS B.I.G.’S HONOR

(AllHipHop News) Late rap icon The Notorious B.I.G. has been honored with his own basketball court in his native Brooklyn, New York.

The “Juicy” hitmaker, real name Christopher Wallace, was killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles in 1997, and to mark the 20th anniversary of his passing, the Crispus Attucks Playground in his old Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood was officially renamed the Christopher ‘Biggie’ Wallace Courts in a special event on Wednesday.

New York City Councilman Robert Cornegy, who used to live in the same apartment block as Biggie, was on hand to conduct the ceremony, after previously making a promise to the tragic hip-hop star’s mother, Voletta Wallace, to find a way to properly cement his legacy.

Voletta and her grandchildren, the rapper’s daughter Tyanna and son C.J., were also in attendance for the court renaming.

It’s the second Brooklyn tribute Biggie has received this year – in March, his mentor Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs helped to retire a Brooklyn Nets basketball jersey bearing the number “72” the year of his birth, at their home arena, the Barclays Center.
