(AllHipHop News) Actress Pam Grier is developing a biopic about her life and career.
The Jackie Brown star published her memoir, “Foxy: My Life in Three Acts,” in 2011 and she is now looking to bring her story to the big screen.
A script has been written by Bennie Richburg and comedian and actor Jay Pharoah is attached to play late comedian Richard Pryor – Pam’s lover in the 1970s.
Grier and Jay first met while they were working together on video game Infinity Wars and she immediately knew he would be perfect for the role.
“I watched him and heard his voice and closed my eyes and said, ‘It’s Richard’,” she said of Jay Pharoah’s role. “The story is heartbreaking, raw, honest and beautiful, all rolled into one testimony,” he added.
In her memoir, Grier detailed her relationship with Pryor, revealing she had to end the romance because of his drug use.
“I couldn’t change Richard…,” she says. “And I realized it’s not about changing other people, it’s about changing myself. And that is what I want to tell people with this, that there will be pain in life, but you can survive it and it will make you stronger and protect you from other instances. I wanted to save their lives, but I had to save my own.”
