(AllHipHop News) A New York Hip Hop icon and two of the city’s up-and-coming emcees are taking part in Pandora’s “Sounds Like You: NYC” event.
Queens wordsmith Nas will be joined by Brooklyn’s Young M.A and Harlem’s Dave East for the free concert at Brooklyn Steel on July 19.
Long Island native Biz Markie will also be on hand to perform DJ sets for the crowd.
“This event is a natural extension of the Sounds Like You campaign which was created to highlight the personal music experience on Pandora,” says Jeff Zuchowski, Pandora’s vice president of artist marketing. “And on July 19, Pandora will sound like New York City, its artists and fans.”
Zuchowski continues, “We are honored to work with Nas, an iconic New York City voice with over a billion spins on Pandora. We’re also excited to welcome Young M.A who drew great crowds at Pandora’s SXSW activation, Dave East, whose weekly station adds are largely from fans in New York City, and New York’s own legendary Biz Markie. The popularity of these artists and their music on Pandora is a true testament to the power of Hip Hop.”
Beginning July 12, Pandora users can listen to the Pandora Sounds Like You: NYC mixtape curated by Mass Appeal.
The streamable playlist will feature some of New York City’s greatest rap hits and anthems over the past three decades.
After the showcase, the “Sounds Like You: NYC” Pandora station will include audio from the Brooklyn Steel live performances.
