Vancouver police are seeking photos and videos of the 2022 Breakout Festival riot, which broke out after Lil Baby canceled his performance.
Chaos erupted when festival organizers announced headliner Lil Baby wouldn’t perform at the PNE Amphitheatre on Sunday (September 18). Officials said roughly 1,000 people stuck around the venue and rioted.
Festivalgoers caused thousands of dollars in damage. Authorities set up an online portal for the public to submit evidence of the riot.
“The Vancouver Police Department is investigating the actions of people who destroyed property and committed other criminal acts following the cancellation of a concert at the Breakout Festival on September 18 at the PNE Amphitheatre,” police wrote on the submission portal page. “We ask anyone with video or photos depicting violence, destruction or other criminal acts to submit the video or photos here.”
Lil Baby apologized for canceling his Breakout Festival gig in wake of the riot. He claimed his body shut down on him, but he was seen partying in Las Vegas the night before the event.
“I would like to start off by saying I truly apologize Vancouver, Canada, The Breakout Festival And To Everyone Who was in attendance!” Lil Baby wrote on Instagram Stories. “I have been going so hard these past few months without any breaks that it finally caught up with me. And My Body Completely Shut Down. I owe you guys big time and will for sure make up for it soon.”
