Powered by his Hip-Hop tinged single "Yeah"
featuring Lil Jon and Ludacris, R&B sensation Usher moved 1.1 million units
of his fifth album, Confessions the first week in stores.
The album tallied the highest first week numbers
ever scanned by a male R&B artist, breaking R. Kelly’s record of 540,000
for TP2 in 2000.
The album is also Arista’s biggest debut in 30
years, breaking the previous record of 689,000 held by Notorious B.I.G.’s posthumous
album, Life After Death.
"My feeling has always been that Confessions
would be a landmark album for me," Usher said."I will be eternally
grateful to my friends at Arista for making that a reality."
Usher has sold more than 20 million records in
his career.
