Presidential hopeful John Kerry said that he was “fascinated by rap and Hip-Hop” and said that he was a big fan of the genre.”I think there’s a lot of poetry in it,” Kerry told MTV’s Choose or Lose. “There’s a lot of anger – a lot of social energy.”Kerry warned America leaders of the importance of the genre saying “I think you better listen to it pretty carefully because it’s important.”In what appeared to be a jab at Ice-T’s song controversial song “Cop Killer,” Kerry said that he did not condone some lyrics.”I think when you start, you know, talking about killing cops or something like that, it bothers me.”Kerry, who married into the $700 million dollar Heinz ketchup dynasty said that despite some of the racy lyrics, he continues to listen.”I know that it’s a reflection of the street and it’s a reflection of life. And I understand all that.”Kerry, a Yale graduate, served in Vietnam and was a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee as well as Senator of Massachusetts.
