(AllHipHop News) The memoir Prince was working on before his death in 2016 is to hit stores later this year.
The “Purple Rain” icon’s autobiography was a hot-ticket item in the publishing world in the weeks leading up to his death and now ICM Partners publishing agent Esther Newberg has revealed her company will be releasing the first draft of the book before the Christmas holidays.
“(The way we pitched Prince has) never been done before,” Newberg said on Variety’s Strictly Business podcast. “Editors don’t like to be in the same room making their pitches to the same potential clients. We had to do it because I knew he would not want to meet individually with editors.”
Prince worked with author Dan Piepenbring on the book and delivered 50 handwritten manuscript pages, according to Variety. Newberg reveals the memoir could include reproductions of Prince’s manuscripts.
The deal for Prince’s memoir, tentatively titled “The Beautiful Ones,” was announced a month before he died of an accidental drug overdose.
It was described at the time as “an unconventional and poetic journey through his life and creative work.”
