(AllHipHop News) R. Kelly will have a lot more company in jail because he’s been moved out of solitary confinement.
R. Kelly was just transferred to general population inside of the Metropolitan Correctional Center’s Special Housing Unit.
According to Greenberg, R. Kelly was being held confined in the most restrictive wing of the prison due to his celebrity status and the nature of his alleged offenses with underaged victims.
But R. Kelly maintained he was being unfairly penalized by being held under oppressive conditions in solitary confinement.
Today, the “I Believe I Can Fly” singer’s segregation from other prisoners ended.
But R. Kelly is reportedly worried about how he will adjust to his new environment.
“I’m just up on everybody and everybody’s up on me, and I’m trying to figure out how to trust that or whatever,” R. Kelly supposedly told a friend during a call from the jail last week.
At the least, the ease of restrictions and change of surroundings should help R. Kelly better prepare for his defense.
At worse, his life could be in serious jeopardy now that he is being held among other dangerous prisoners.
R. Kelly is currently facing it almost 200 years in prison after being charged with 18 felony charges for allegedly sexually abusing minors across state lines.
