R. Kelly Skipped Court Date Because His Toenail Hurt

R. Kelly was supposed to be in court yesterday for a hearing in his sexual assault trial, but a toenail infection prevented him from making it.

(AllHipHop News) R. Kelly skipped a sexual assault court date in Chicago, Illinois on Wednesday blaming his absence on a toe infection.

The singer, who was arrested in July on separate federal counts in New York and Chicago, was due to attend a status hearing.

His lawyer, Steven Greenberg, told U.S. District Judge Harry Leinenweber his client is recovering from having a toenail removed as a result of the infection.

Greenberg claimed the 52-year-old, who has been fitted with a walking boot, was concerned someone would accidentally step on his injured foot if he was transported from his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center to the courthouse.

Kelly was excused and is next due to face the judge in February, ahead of his trial in April.

He stands accused of sexually assaulting four females, including three who were reportedly underage at the time of the alleged incidents.

The musician is also facing charges in New York and Minnesota.

He has denied all the accusations.
