“Dr. Melissa ‘Missy’ Elliott” released a 5-track EP produced by Timbaland, Willie Hendrix and the rapper/producer herself.
While its her first “collection” since the 2005 release of her album The Cookbook, Missy has been busy releasing music for the past several years with popular artists like Busta Rhymes, Ariana Grande, Katy Perry and others.
She also just dropped another one of her groundbreaking videos, with the visuals for her single “Throw It Back.”
Missy’s music comes as she prepares to take the stage at the VMAs on Monday, when she will become the first female rapper to accept the coveted Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
Meanwhile, a museum celebrating the rap icon will open ahead of her big night at the awards.
Presented in partnership with bosses at Pepsi, the interactive pop-up experience will highlight Elliott’s career and feature some of her most iconic music videos and daring costumes.
