Rappers From A Tribe Called Quest, Blacksheep Form New Group

DRES AND JAROBI UNITE TO FORM EVITAN! CHECK OUT THEIR NEW TRACK!

(AllHipHop News) Veteran rappers Jarobi from A Tribe Called Quest and Black Sheep frontman Dres have formed a new group named EVITAN (native spelled backwards) and are currently working to drop an untitled album.

The pair are gearing up to release “P.T.I. (Occupy Wall Street),” along with a companion video, which was shot on location during the Occupy Wall Street protests in New York.

According to Dres, the pair’s new track sums up the anger and uncertainty about America’s future that the Occupy protesters are attempting to convey to the rest of the nation.

“The 99% need to have not just a voice, but voices,” Dres told AllHipHop.com in a statement release today (December 5). “We need to have more voices that speak to our plight beyond what is given to us via the media.”

Since it was shot during the tense protests, the video captures the true essence of the demonstrations, as well as the NYPD’s handling of the protesters.

“Law enforcement is sadly overbearing and seemingly not understanding,” Dres continued. “Unfortunately, they’re desensitized to the plight of the people they’re supposed to protect. They can be so much more effective without billy clubs, pepper spray, and a militant attitude towards civilians that merely seek equality. There needs to be a deeper understanding of ‘us’.”

Both Jarobi and Dres are Hip-Hop legends who are part of the Native Tongue collective of rappers, which featured such members as The Jungle Brothers, De La Soul, Chi-Ali, A Tribe Called Quest, Blacksheep, Leaders of the New School, Queen Latifah, Monie Love and others.

There is currently no release date attached to EVITAN’s untitled debut. Check out the video for “P.T.I. (Occupy Wall Street” below:
