Legendary comedian Redd Foxx will be following in the steps of Tupac Shakur and “performing” as a stand-up comedian again.
Hologram USA has made agreements with the estates of Foxx and comic Andy Kaufman to create a stage that will recreate the best material of each comedian. The New York Times reports, “ “The hologram shows featuring these comedians would include some of their best-known material — say, Andy Kaufman lip-syncing the ‘Mighty Mouse’ theme on the debut episode of Saturday Night Live— as well as narrative segments that dramatize biographical details.”
Different stages will host the performances all over the nation, the report says.
Hologram USA founder Alki David said,” Redd Foxx is a hero who helped change the game not just in comedy, but in how Americans talk about race and sex.”
Redd Foxx is best known for his role as Fred Sanford on Sanford and Son. He died in 1991.
Kaufman died in 1984.
Oddly enough, a fictional representation of Redd Foxx showed up in Tupac’s “I Ain’t Mad At Cha,” from his hit album All Eyez on Me.
