Rapper Redman continues
to boost his acting resume and has signed on to star in "Seed of Chucky,"
the fifth installment of the "Chucky" horror series.
The latest installment
started production March 15 in Romania. Redman will star as himself in the film,
which centers around the character Glen, the orphan doll offspring of Chucky
and his bride Tiffany.
The movie is directed
by Don Mancini and being produced by Focus Features, which is owned by Vivendi/Universal,
the same company that owns the Island Def Jam Music group.
"We get a
kick out of Chucky, and we’re not scared to admit it," Focus co-presidents
David Linde and James Schamus said. "Don Mancini has come up with a very
fresh take for the franchise, and this Halloween, new viewers and longtime Chucky
fans alike are in for bloody good fun."
The flick is scheduled
to open in theaters October 29.
In related news,
Redman and Method Man’s untitled Fox sitcom is now in production in New Jersey.
Based off an idea
by Method Man, the sitcom focuses on two rappers who buy a house in suburban
New Jersey, only to have their wild parties interrupted when one of the rapper’s
mother moves in.
