(AllHipHop News) Today A Tribe Called Quest emcee Phife Dawg was laid to rest at a private funeral.
Prior to the funeral services for close friends and family, ATCQ asked fans to meet them at St. Albans Park in Queens for “A Celebration of Phife.”
The first 200 fans that arrived received “something very special” as advertised on the flyer. (see below)
Fans that arrived early got a T-shirt and ticket combo for the Phife Dawg memorial show tomorrow (April 5th) at The Apollo Theater.
The park is the same park that is being petitioned to be renamed Malik Taylor Park
Recently an online petition surfaced to convince the Parks and Recreation Department of New York City to consider honoring Phife and has since received 7,526 signatures at the time of print.
Reports say Phife Dawg passed away due to complications with diabetes in his home despite getting a kidney transplant from his wife in 2008.
Malik “Phife Dawg” Taylor was 45 years old.
