While chatter is growing

about the alleged sale of the Roc-A-Fella Record label to Def Jam, Dame Dash continues

to strengthen the Rocawear brand, signing a deal to create a line of apparel

based around the upcoming movie, "Batman Begins."

Rocawear partnered

with Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) on behalf of DC Comics to create

a line which will hit stores at the same time of the theatrical release of the

movie, which is the 5th installment of the Batman franchise of films.

"Rocawear

and Batman are a seamless match," Damon Dash, CEO, Rocawear said in a statement

last week. "Batman is a character who is a child of the city, a self-made

man who reinvents himself and lets nothing get in his way. We understand what

he is all about. Batman is a casual, cool fashion brand and his unique traits

fit perfectly into our line."

The collaboration

is a first for Roc-A-Wear and will feature three distinct looks. The first delivery

is titled “Urban Legends” and features pants, jeans and wovens,

aiming for an old school feel.

The second delivery

is called "Gotham City" and leans towards darker hues while the third

delivery, “I AM,” is inspired by the imagery of "Batman Begins"

and features jackets, hoodies, tees and button downs.

“By partnering

with Rocawear, we combine the super heroic style of Batman with Rocawear’s street

style to create a fashion-forward statement that sets the latest trend in apparel,"

added Dan Romanelli, President, Warner Bros.

The clothing line

is scheduled to hit stores starting in May of 2005.
