Detroit emcee Royce the 5’9” hopes to add more acclaim to his name when he drops his next project, aptly titled Independent’s Day.
The LP will be released on the independent label MIC Records and Royce has set out to sell big numbers even though he’s not on a major.
“I’m going to put the fire on the streets to generate the steam like an Indy would, but with my team I’ll be able to sustain the heat and collect the paper of a major label,” Royce said.
Independent’s Day is more than an album title to Royce and was chosen to signify his mind state.
“All the artists chosen to be collaborators are unsigned or independent, that have been bubbling. We plan to take that underground buzz and put them over the radar.”
Guests on the album include Sara Stokes (MTV’s Making the Band), Cee-Lo Green, Yo Gotti, Juan and Kid Vicious.
Look for Royce to drop another album on July 5th and then a collaborative effort with Virginia producer Nottz called Politics later in the year.
