Russell Simmons Closes Instagram Account For “Spiritual Maintenance”

(AllHipHop News) Russell Simmons has temporarily closed his Instagram account while he works on “becoming a more useful” servant of god. The 60-year-old has gone to Indonesian island Bali in the wake of being accused of multiple allegations of sexual misconduct and abuse, and last month, he was sued by filmmaker Jennifer Jarosik, who claims he raped her. At the time of Jarosik’s filing, Simmons issued a statement denying the claims, and he has protested his innocence once again, declaring the truth will come out in court. The producer and yoga devotee headed to Bali to escape the furor at the Yoga Barn retreat in Ubud. He posted a black image with white text on Instagram that read, “Temporarily closed for spiritual maintenance.” In the accompanying caption, Simmons explained that he is working on his relationship with God, “writing, meditating at holy sites and practicing asanas.” “Letting everyone speak, while I listen. Focusing and praying to realize one goal, BEING A MORE USEFUL SERVENT OF GOD,” he continued. “I want to fully devote myself to my daughters, the underserved communities I’ve always worked with and the growth of a new conscious community.” Simmons post comes after he is battling allegations from three women who have accused the Def Jam Records co-founder of raping them, as well as a number of other historic sexual misconduct claims, stemming from throughout the 1980s and 1990s. The music mogul has since stepped down from his companies following the allegations.
