Houston, Texas native
Scarface is known for his eclectic taste in music and now the rapper is fronting
his own group, Scarface and The
Formahdahyde Funk Band.
The group received rave reviews at a recent performance at club
Numbers in Houston, Texas, where Face and the band ripped through a
number of his classic Hip-Hop songs.
The band includes a bass player, a guitarist, two keyboardists,
two trumpet players, a trombone player, a saxophone player, a drummer and three
other singers.
The group was set for a high profile appearance at this year’s
South By South West (SXSW), the legendary annual music festival taking place
in Austin, Texas March 11th-20th.
Face and company pulled out of the SXSW for unknown reasons,
but promoter Matt Solanza said those attending the conference can still expect
a healthy portion of high profile, innovative hip-hop artists.
"This year SXSW is presenting some of the tightest hip-hop
talent to come out of Texas," Solanza said. "From new majors like
Paul Wall and Slim Thug to underground legends like Bavu Blakes and Money Waters,
if you can make it to Austin, you’ll be fully up to speed on what’s really poppin’
out here."
In addition to highlighting what Texas has to offer, the conference
will also showcase new upcoming artists.
"We have cats
like Chops, Diplo and DJ Lt. Dan, Ovadose from Gary, Indiana, Lunar Heights
from Frisco, and an entire show dedicated to hip hop’s influence around the
world with acts like Ojos de Brujo from Spain, Daara J from Senegal and C-Mon
& Kypski from Holland."
