is winding down with one day in voting left in their nationwide unsigned MC

search.

Over 1700 MC’s from across the country submitted tracks for a chance at winning

Scion: NextUp’s top prize: a marketing package valued at $50,000.

The top ten finalists were

selected by DJ Premier, Green Lantern and Sean Cane who Scion tapped to check

out and judge all of the entrants down to the top ten.

The top 10 rappers

are: Prophetix (Atlanta, GA), Lokey Da Problem Child of (Brooklyn, NY), The Chapter (Las Vegas, NV), EPIK (Cleveland, OH), Omega Red (Boston, MA), Brilliance

(Southfield,MI), Staxx (Taunton, MA), Boom Bap Project (Seattle, WA), Reach

(Kansas City , MO) and Hassaan Mackey and MoProducto as the top ten unsigned

acts in the country.

Unsigned artist Bavu Blakes

was a contestant, but was pulled from the contest due to controversial lyrics

referencing George Bush.

The top ten artists and

their songs are now featured on the Scion: NextUp website where their music

can be heard and voted on.

Votes must be in tomorrow (Sept. 29) to be counted and the emcee with the most

votes will be awarded the marketing package that will include a fully funded

music video, $5,000 dollars cash, and the opportunity to perform at Scion sponsored

events across the country.

According to Scion, the Scion: NextUp competitions were created to help create

a new avenue for talent to rise up and be heard. All of Scion’s winners keep

ownership of their masters and are free agents.
