(AllHipHop News) Earlier this month, Tip “T.I.” Harris was catching the wrath of Nicki Minaj’s fanbase for suggesting she could not be on the same Top 50 rappers lists as her rival Lil Kim. Harris had another discussion about Minaj, this time his comments centered around her feud with Cardi B.
T.I. and Cardi stopped by the Rap Radar podcast to promote their Netflix competition show Rhythm + Flow. While sitting with Elliott Wilson and Brian “B. Dot” Miller, the expediTIously host addressed the backlash he also received for putting art lauding both Cardi and Nicki in the same Lil Trap House Pop Up installation.
“Everybody [was like], ‘How could you? [Cardi] hasn’t been rapping long enough! She ain’t put out enough! You’re being disrespectful to Nicki!’ When does celebrating two queens become disrespectful to one? I never understood that,” said Tip. “This is an acknowledgment. Both of these young ladies have struggled and overcame obstacles and defied the odds to put themselves in positions to represent [themselves] and the next generation.”
He continued, “Why in the hell are you trying to pit one against the other? Whether they have their own personal differences, that ain’t my job to perpetuate that. And I ain’t got to choose a side. Unlike you miserable, lonely motherf*ckers. I have my own opinion. I’m a free thinker, and free thinkers think freely.”
Hip Hop newcomer Megan Thee Stallion shared a similar opinion about the matter in August. Hot Girl Meg said, “[Nicki and Cardi] are two different people, two different rappers. It’s not even the same. I feel like we need to stop trying to compare them. I love both of them, so I would definitely like to collab with Cardi too.”
