(AllHipHop News) T-Pain is not about to let even the legendary Quincy Jones disparage his name. The auto-tune king has responded to the production Jones’s comments to Vulture website, where he made startling revelations about Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, Richard Pryor and even rappers that paid homage to him.
T-Pain was one of those Hip-Hop artists that honored Jones on his last album, which he admittedly hated.
Pain decided to set the record straight from his point of view.
He said on Twitter that he actually agreed with Mr. Jones.
For the record I told my managers (at the time) and I told
@QuincyDJones in his face “I don’t want to remake any of your past records because I know I’m gonna f### it up. I’ll never be able to reach the greatest of MJ” it took them hours to pump me up to even go in the booth 1/2
And I still hated it when I came out of the booth. Then the song came
out and it was even worse than it sounded in the studio. This is legit
one of the reasons I don’t work with the managers I had anymore because
if I said I was uncomfortable doing something they didn’t care 2/2
Jones considered his 2010 album, Q: Soul Bossa Nostra, a mistake and highlighted T-Pain’s collaboration with Robin Thicke on “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)”. Talib Kweli, Ludacris, Three 6 Mafia, LL Cool J and others were also featured on it. Jones, who has one of the most impressive resumes in music, said he gave the rappers a stern warnring. He allegedly told them, “‘Look, you got to make the music better than we did on the originals.’ T-Pain, man, he didn’t pay attention to the details.”
Pain concluded that the aging genius was simply cranky.
But also to be real. It just seems like
@QuincyDJone s is p##### off at the whole world. I have nothing but respect for the
guy so I don’t know why we didn’t hold the song or tell me exactly what he wanted when I kept taking the headphones off beggin for direction from the God.
