Ta-Nehisi Coates Uses Kendrick Lamar Lyric To Announce New Book About Obama Presidency

THE BEST-SELLING AUTHOR IS RETURNING WITH ‘WE WERE EIGHT YEARS IN POWER’

(AllHipHop News) Ta-Nehisi Coates is clearly a fan of Hip Hop culture, evidenced by his collaboration with Run The Jewels for the Black Panther video series “A Nation Under Our Feet.”

The New York Times best-selling author is a favorite of many rappers as well.

Coates even got an endorsement from Jay Z when the G.O.A.T. emcee contender posted a rare tweet about the 2015 memoir Between the World and Me.

Yesterday, The Atlantic contributor used the social media platform to announce his next work titled We Were Eight Years in Power: An American Tragedy.

In typical Coates fashion, he posted the cover for the book accompanied with a lyric from Kendrick Lamar’s “Yah” off the DAMN album.

“I got so many theories and suspicions…,” read the tweet.

Entertainment Weekly reports We Were Eight Years in Power is a collection of new and previously published essays about the Barack Obama presidency.

The book will include the January/February 2017 The Atlantic cover story “My President Was Black” (a reference to a Young Jeezy song).

Ta-Nehisi Coates’ We Were Eight Years in Power: An American Tragedy is scheduled for release October 3 via One World Publishing.
