One of the summer’s
best known benefit concerts – Black August – has just sold out as Talib Kweli
and Jaguar Wright sign on to join the other artists already performing.
Kweli and Jaguar
will join headliner Mos Def as well as Black Moon, Smif N Wessun and others.
Black August 2005 will promote HIV/AIDS prevention awareness in Africa and in
the Hip-Hop Community.
According to Black August
co-coordinator Meron Wondwosen, Black August is definitely about more than just
hot beats and rhymes.
“Black August is an
outlet that continues to provide a voice to those who consider themselves voiceless
in this world. We are excited to have Talib Kweli and Jaguar Wright on board
to lend their talents to shout for the millions of young people in Africa and
in the Hip-Hop community that are struggling with HIV/AIDS.”
This years concert
will be held August 7th at the legendary B.B. Kings Blues Club in Times Square.
