Radio 1 DJ Tim Westwood has been tapped to host the UK version
of MTV’s#### television show, “Pimp My Ride.”
The United States
version of the show features a group of mechanics from West Coast Customs turning
beat up cars into souped up vehicles and was made popular by American rapper
Xzibit.
“Xzibit is a close friend,” Westwood told the UK
Sun. “When I heard that MTV UK were making a version of the show for the
UK, I got straight on the phone. Can you imagine the bling machines we’re
going to create that’ll be cruising down your local high street?”
UK’s version of “Pimp My Ride” is scheduled
to air this summer.
The show worked
for MTV Germany as well, but in a unique variation that aired as a pilot last
December called “Pimp My Fahrrad.”
The German version,
hosted by rapper Das Bo, featured pimped out "fire bicycles" by Hamburg
based company, Elbcoast Psycles.
In related news, official "Pimp My Ride" custom fit
car and trunk mats were made available recently by GG Bailey, a company that
specializes in manufacturing and distributing custom luxury car mats.
Car enthusiasts can order online at GG Bailey’s website using
a virtual mat to design their custom mat. Four different "Pimp My Ride"
logos are available to choose from and GG Bailey makes the order within 48 hours.
MTV will also release "Pimp My Ride: The Complete First
Season DVD" on March 22, which features 15 episodes, deleted scenes and
Xzibit’s video, "What U See is What U Get."
