Two Source employees were reportedly arrested early Saturday (July 23) following a shooting outside a New York City bar that left three men injured.
Leroy Peeples, The Source’s general manager, and Alvin Chiles, who works in the hip-hop magazine’s sales department, were detained immediately after the shooting, New York Newsday reported.
The incident took place around 2:15 a.m. outside the Limerick House bar across the street from The Source’s main office, apparently after a dispute about playing a CD that one of the three victims presented, police sources told Newsday.
Once the fight erupted onto the streets, two men opened fire, according to police, and three men were shot.
Police said a 26-year-old man suffered a bullet wound to the head; a 28-year-old man was shot three times throughout his body, and another man, 30, was shot twice in the arm and torso.
All three were likely to recuperate from their injuries, according to police. Two of the victims were cousins and one was a busboy from the bar, police said.
Though suspects remained in questioning at the 13th Precinct, no one was charged as of Saturday night, said Mel Sachs, a lawyer for Peeples and Chiles.
“Any allegations of wrongdoing are unfounded and any charges against either of them would be dismissed as a matter of fact and as a matter of law,” Sachs told Newsday.
Sachs represented rapper Lil Kim during her recent perjury trial.
