Meek Mill appears to be Public Enemy No. 1 for a lot of people on social media at the moment. Large sections of the internet are still slamming the Philadelphia-raised rapper over leaked lyrics about the late Kobe Bryant.
“And if I ever lack, I’m going out with my choppa. It’ll be another Kobe,” spit Meek on a snippet of an unreleased track by him and Atlanta’s Lil Baby. Those bars were met with widespread criticism because the NBA icon’s 2020 death from a helicopter crash was still traumatic for many of his fans and loved ones.
Kobe Bryant’s widow, Vanessa Bryant, has now offered her thoughts on the controversial song. She posted a message on her Instagram Story that directly addresses the lyrics about her deceased spouse. Meek Mill was tagged in the post.
“Dear @meekmill, I find this line to be extremely insensitive and disrespectful. Period. I am not familiar with any of your music, but I believe you can do better than this. If you are a fan, fine, there’s a better way to show your admiration for my husband. This lacks respect and tact,” wrote Vanessa.
