(AllHipHop News) Vince Staples has spent the last few weeks promoting his new Big Fish Theory album that dropped today (June 23), but the Long Beach emcee also found time to shoot an ad for Sprite.
The commercial features Vince handing out soda to a group of “random teenagers.”
“Cold lyrics by hot rappers here with a cool, crisp, refreshing lemon-line summer Sprite,” he tells three teens approaching his green-and-yellow colored carnival booth.
Vince is among the six rap stars tapped for the 2017 “Cold Lyrics Series” campaign.
Sprite cans and bottles will include “cold” lines from songs by Staples, Vic Mensa, D.R.A.M., Lil Yachty, Kamaiyah, and Kap G.
From June 26 through August 28, fans will have the chance to win special prizes by purchasing the limited edition items.
“Sprite was one of the first brands ever to recognize the power of Hip Hop more than 30 years ago. It has always celebrated authenticity and collaborated with a variety of emerging, established and legendary artists,” said Bobby Oliver, director, Sprite & Citrus Brands, Coca-Cola North America.
Oliver added, “This year, the ‘Summer Sprite Cold Lyrics Series’ is a new way for us to shine the spotlight on cool, crisp, refreshing, lemon-lime Sprite and these six incredibly talented artists who are making their own mark and represent the next generation of Hip Hop stars.”
Previously, Sprite produced cans decorated with lines from Nas, Drake, Rakim, Notorious B.I.G, 2Pac, J. Cole and Missy Elliott as part of the “Obey Your Verse” promotion.
Other Hip Hop acts such as Kurtis Blow, A Tribe Called Quest, KRS-One, Roxanne Shante, Heavy D, Kid ‘n Play, Common, Fat Joe, Redman, Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth, Grand Puba, Lady of Rage, The Lost Boyz, Kriss Kross, and Grandmaster Flash have been connected to the brand as well.
