(AllHipHop News) Wale stopped by Ebro In The Morning this week to promote his new Shine album which is now available for purchase and streaming.
While at the Hot 97 radio show, the DMV emcee was asked about how J. Cole’s “False Prophets” helped him.
The second verse on that song is believed to be about Wale, and it led to him dropping the response track titled “Groundhog Day.”
“I think it helped other people more than it helped me, for real. Because everybody’s been like, ‘Oh, Wale’s been on his sh-t ever since.’ Nah, I been doing this,” responded the MMG signee to Ebro’s question about the Cole track.
He added, “It opened me and his relationship more. We’re closer than we’ve ever been at this point. He’s like one of my emergency numbers if something happens to me. [laughs] That’s a rea, real friend right there.”
Not long after the two rap stars dropped their respective records, Wale and Cole were seen together at a basketball game.
