(AllHipHop News) Some film aficionados believe the remake/reboot/prequel bubble in Hollywood is on the verge of bursting. The argument is that audiences will eventually get tired of seeing rehashed IP.
However, those concerns have not stopped studios from moving forward with countless doses of motion picture nostalgia (for example, a Set It Off remake is in the works). According to Collider, Warner Bros is set to offer yet another shot of “Hey, don’t you remember how much you loved this movie?”
The studio is reportedly working on a prequel to 2001’s Training Day. Apparently, the new film takes place days before the 1992 Los Angeles Riots which were ignited by four LAPD officers being acquitted for assaulting motorist Rodney King. Nick Yarborough is writing the script.
Antoine Fuqua directed the original Training Day. The crime drama starred Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke. Both men were nominated for Oscars with Washington winning Best Actor for portraying the crooked cop Alonzo Harris. A television series of the same name aired on CBS in 2017.
